Silverado Construction, a local Utah contractor working toward deconstruction certification through the ReUse People of America, completed a full deconstruction of a nearly 6000 square foot home in Park City. Property owner Gregor Bailar is building a new net-zero home on the site and hopes to achieve LEED platinum certification. In order to accomplish this, the Bailars needed a green alternative to demolition that would award them LEED points for waste diversion, reuse, and recycling. We are excited to announce an upcoming joint project with Salt Lake Valley Habitat for Humanity (HFH). Over the summer, TRP will coordinate with HFH to host 10 volunteer deconstruction events at the site of the future Hope Lodge. Volunteers from Habitat for Humanity, local companies, and the general public will pry, pull, and leverage as much reusable material from an existing 1950's LDS church in downtown Salt Lake City. This event will not only showcase deconstruction to Utah, but demonstrate the American Cancer Society's commitment to the health and longevity of the community.
